Neemrana, March 6, 2009: SABMiller India, country’s leading brewing company organized an HIV/AIDS awareness workshop at one of its biggest breweries in North, Rochees Breweries today. This initiative is a part of SABMiller India’s ongoing drive against HIV/AIDS awareness. This session in particular involved the spouses of the workers, who were educated about the epidemic, along with prevention and precautionary measures.
In his welcome remarks Mr Jaiprakash Narain, Head Manufacturing, Rochees Breweries mentioned that Rochees brewery was committed to contributing towards spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS.“ SABMiller India has taken several initiatives in the area of HIV/AIDS. Rochees Breweries has been very actively working towards spreading awareness on HIV amongst its employees and its supply chain i.e truckers. The project titled “Humsafar” launched in partnership with Humana people to people and RSACS for the truckers at the brewery has been very successful and appreciated.
A highlight of the programme was a Condom Vending Machine that was gifted to the brewery by Mr Krishna Gautam, Programme Manger, Rajasthan State Aids Control Society.
Also present at the event were Mr Surya Prakash Verma, Project Leader, HIV/AIDS programme, Humana people to people and Mr Naveen Kumar Bansal, Senior Manager, Population services International.
The inaugural session was followed by an awareness session, which was conducted to sensitize the brewery employees and their spouses about HIV. One to one counseling sessions were also organized as a part of the workshop.
